My Family

My family consists of six sibling four women and two brothers including myself and mom and dad. Two of my sisters are married my oldest sister currently lives in Arizona she has a daughter she is 6 years old and boy which is one year, my second sister has only one boy which he is currently  six months which he doesn’t crawl at all. So far all of my sisters and brother have graduated from JR High and also from High School. Moreover, all of my sister and brothers are still currently going to school at the moment which they don’t have a major yet and all of them are currently enrolled in Oxnard College. My parents are currently employed; they run their own business which is janitorial which consist of them cleaning building and offices which varies from aerospace company to construction business. Therefore I think my parents are very successful because they came from nothing to starting their own business.  When starting their business they struggled for about a year but then, after that year they boomed up and since then their business as always been positive revenue for them. I always thank them because they never let us down with anything.

My family always tries to gather up every weekend to chat and remember all of our child hoods. Therefore we usually have a Carne Asada or if not some Pozole, Tamales that’s what my mom knows what to cook the best. My brother and sister usually help my mom to make all this dishes. That’s what we usually to make my mom have a smile in her face. My father just usually sits in the couch and keeps on asking us what time is the food going to be ready, but he never helps us do any of the dishes, basically he just sits on the table and eats his food. My whole family enjoys spending time with each other, therefore my family talks about that this tradition should be kept till we can. At the end of the night the whole family leaves happy but the next we txt each other saying how wonderful was the weekend. In conclusion all of my siblings get along so well that my parents are always in a good mood just because they feel that they raised us so well and did the right thing and they always brag about it.

Class Interview

                                                Classmate interview

The person that I interview in class was Christina and was born on October 19 1987 in Oxnard California.  She was primarily raised by her mother because her dad was always in prison. She attended three different high schools, but she graduated from Channel Islands High school in 2005. She picked up drumming at the age of 17 years old. After, High school she had her first job at subway. She has two brothers and two sisters but she is the middle child. She attended Ventura College in 2009 and she graduated which she graduated with an Associates of Science in Accounting, but then she decided to come back and get the rest of her credentials to transfer to a four year university. She though the right thing to do is come back and strive for something better. Christina is the first to attend College from all of her brothers and sister.

She is currently working part-time for Maxim companion Services she is personal Coordinator. Christiana’s currently works from 8:30 to 2:30 only works 30 hours a week. Therefore after work she usually attends College. Class schedule is Tuesday thru Thursday all her class starts at 7:00 PM.  She currently sees herself independent with no help from anybody. For the most part she spends time with her family on the weekends and usually talks to them on the phone during the week. Ten years from now she sees herself with a BS with a good paying job and a house and having a couple kids.

Many people procrastinate to do homework and that’s not a good thing to do.  Schools are not over crowded but resources that she has are closer to home. Christina’s culture is more from grandparents and mostly is more American than anything else. Now in days schools are not difficult but the experience is that they demand more homework and they always demand many other things.

My first horse ride

My First time Riding A Horse

It was a sunny Saturday evening, and it was about 70 degrees. I was 21 years old at the time. I was hanging out with my girlfriend at her father’s ranch. Roberto my girlfriend’s dad was out in the ranch feeding the horses.  Roberto had two horses by his house, and he was putting new shoes on them, because if the horses don’t have shoes they might slip when people are riding them. While me and my girlfriend where outside, she asked “do you want to ride a horse,” and I replied, “No because I don’t know how to ride a horse,” she said, “Who cares, I will teach how to ride a horse,” I said, “no because I don’t want to fall from the horse.” She then told me “don’t worry Luis, I will teach you, I have taught other people to ride a horse.” She told me, “come on and trust me you won’t fall everything is going to be okay.” So I decided to give it a try just because I trusted my girlfriend and she’s had been riding horses all her life.

Stephanie was saddling the horse, and as she was putting the saddle on I started to panic because in my head I was just thinking that the horse was going to buckle and drop me. Stephanie told me to hop on the horse, and I started to sweat from my hands and forehead. I then took a deep breath and backed away. I told her “never mind I don’t want to ride the horse anymore.” After I backed away from the horse, she told me that the horse I was going to ride was trained to not buckle, but I didn’t believe her. Therefore, Stephanie called her dad to confirm with him that what she had told me was correct about the horse being trained.

When I heard Stephanie and Roberto telling me about the horse and telling me that it came from a breed of good horses, I then said “okay ill ride the horse then.”  I put one leg on the horse, and then I jumped to the other side. Finally I was on top of the horse, and my next step was to make the horse go. So what I did was hit the horse with my two legs on its stomach, and the horse slowly began to move. At the moment I was so nervous that I was sweating all over my body, but I felt okay because I was on top of the horse already. A couple of times I felt like I blanked out, because it was my first time riding a horse and I had no experience.

After, I continued to ride the horse around the ranch. Feeling really good about myself, for I had accomplished something that I wanted to do since I had met Stephanie. Therefore, Stephanie was happy for me as well, so she grabbed another horse for herself and we started to ride together. She took me through some trails that she would always go through with her father when she was younger. As we were riding, she told me stories of how she became a horse rider when she was young. As the night was getting dark, we went to the top of the mountains with the horses. She told me you see that tree, I said “yes,” then she replied “well I will race you to that tree to see who gets there first,” and I said “okay”. So we raced, and of course she beat me because she’s been riding horses longer than me.

My first time riding a horse was a good experienced because the horse that I was riding was a trained horse that didn’t go wild or dropped me. Knowing that I was being watched by somebody that had experience with horses made me feel better, but at the same time I also felt afraid, because I never had rode a horse before. Moreover, I felt like I did a good job riding a horse, and my fear went away of riding. Now I could ride a horse without being scared, also knowing that I accomplished riding a horse, I know that I can challenge myself to do other things.

This event was Important to me because I challenged myself, and I learned how to ride a horse. Now I know I could ride a horse without someone looking over me. Therefore, Stephanie and I could go out and ride horses together around her ranch. Also, I learned not to be afraid to try something new, and I also learned that you have to take a risk of trying new you want to accomplish in life.  Moreover, always try new things that you want to do, and I appreciate Stephanie and Roberto for helping me ride a horse. These are the reasons why I think this event was important for me.
